V.Putin.Встреча с акционерами компании.21.12.06.Part 3

V.Putin.Встреча с акционерами компании.21.12.06.Part 3Meeting with Sakhalin Energy Shareholders.Part 3 December 21, 2006 The Kremlin, Moscow Встреча с акционерами компании «Сахалин Энерджи» 21 декабря 2006 года Москва, Кремль MR PUTIN [to S.Utsuda]: Please. MR UTSUDA: Mr President, thank you for this opportunity to meet with you. We think that this agreement on Gazproms involvement in the project is an important milestone for Sakhalin-2. Mitsui thinks that Gazprom's participation will considerably strengthen the project and Russian-Japanese ties. We think that this cooperation will evolve into a broader energy production effort on Sakhalin in the future. Thank you. MR PUTIN: Sakhalin is not the only place. We run many joint projects with Japanese partners. MR UTSUDA: Of course. Nonetheless, Sakhalin offers excellent underutilized opportunities for more intensive energy production, and, given its geographical proximity to Japan, we are interested in broader activities on Sakhalin to ensure the energy security of Japan and its people. We also think that our activity will help develop the Sakhalin region and improve the lives of people living on Sakhalin, because we will introduce innovative technology and develop industry not only in the extraction of fossil fuels but also in related sectors. MR PUTIN: I fully agree with you. Nonetheless, our joint plans could be much broader. We know that the Japanese business community is interested in cooperation and further cooperation in the energy sector, and we are ready for the ...

Mr. Jeroen van der Veer, please. MR VAN DER VEER: Thank you for supporting this truly historic event. We sincerely welcome Gazprom as one of our partners in the project. Since Gazprom will be the majority shareholder, I hope Mr. Miller will answer some questions and resolve any problems that may arise. I believe it is important that we have attained stability, which allows all partners in the project to work jointly to implement the project. In my view, this is a beneficial situation for all sides, including Russia and clients in Japan, Korea and other countries in the eastern region, as well as for investors. I believe that all of us shareholders will find an opportunity to further promote the LNG project after the first phase of the project is completed. Mr President, I am aware of all the concerns over environmental issues. In our work, we apply the highest standards of global practice to the development and production of mineral resources. All of us participants in this process are grateful to the minister [of natural resources] for assisting us in our search for the right ways to solve problems and move past concerns and complaints to practical work. [Addressing Mr Putin] I am grateful to you for your assistance, and I believe that the fact that we will continue to discuss ...

Russia as big energy player in the Pacific

Russia as big energy player in the Pacificwww.russiatoday.com February 18, 2009, 9:12 Liquid gas provides alternative to pipeline Russia is about to start exporting its gas to where pipelines cannot reach. The first liquefied natural gas plant has opened in the country's Far East. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso have taken part in the opening ceremony on the island of Sakhalin. The plants product will, initially, go to Japan, South Korea and the United States. Political analyst Andrey Ilyashenko says the facility provides a new level of energy security for Japan and South Korea. It is crucial for Japan to diversify its sources of hydrocarbons, including gas. Once Japan starts receiving LNG from Sakhalin, it means another source of gas for Japan, and a very close one geographically. This will enhance Japans energy security, which is important. The same applies to South Korea, according to the analyst. Also, it will become possible to enter the North American market for liquefied gas, he believes. And, of course, this will enable Russia to expand its co-operation with China, which is the number one consumer of liquefied gas in Asia, he added. It will also offer an alternative method of getting some extra gas to Europe in the event of another transit crisis, such as the one in January.

Tour of Six Russian Regions to the Sound of Russia's National Anthem - Francis Tapon

Tour of Six Russian Regions to the Sound of Russia's National Anthem - Francis TaponRussia, like any big country, has many faces. Unfortunately, most people only see Russia's two biggest cities. In this video, you will see six Russian regions: 1. St. Petersburg 2. Yekateringburg (site of the execution of the Tsars and near the continental border between Europe and Asia), 3. Pskov (near the Baltic) 4. Porkov (and the village of Plovdiv) 5. Kazan (capital of the Tartar region) 6. Moscow All five regions are located in the western Russia. Yekaterinburg is (barely) in eastern Russia since it is 30km on the east side of the Urals, which divide Russia east-west. Russia is the biggest country in the world and this video just covers part of the western portion, which is only 20% of the whole country. East of the Urals is a completely different Russia, the Russia that is in Asia, home of Siberia. You'll have to wait a few years before Francis does a video of that enormous region. Learn about Francis Tapon's upcoming book, "The Hidden Europe: What Eastern Europeans Can Teach Us," at FrancisTapon.com. Photos Francis Tapon Music: Russian National Anthem by the Presidential Orchestra, Pavel Ovsyannikov, cond.; Moscow Kremlin Choir, Gennady Dmitryak, director TIP: This video is best seen in high quality/definition. If the video is choppy, let it load first (press pause) and then you'll be able to view it smoothly.

At 1800 kilometres long it is no small road. It will be built in several stages, two stages to be precise, and this work has already begun. First of all, an unsealed road will be built by the end of 2007. I dont want to get my road terminology wrong, Im sure you know it better than I, but the first stage will see the completion of this unsealed road, and then it will be sealed with asphalt by 2010. Financing is stable for the project and I have no doubt that it will be completed. Overall, we are increasing funds for road construction. Last year and this year, around 100 billion roubles were allocated for road construction, but this will increase next year to 130 billion, plus various subsidies that come to around 65 billion. Overall, we will be spending around 200 billion roubles on road construction next year. YEKATERINA ANDREYEVA: Yevgeny, we have time for another question for the President. YEVGENY POPOV: Alright, lets take someone from the other side, yes, you, please, go ahead. Y. MILOVANOVA ...
