They sit at the desks, as though they were children, in order to learn English.During their time of immigration,English becomes their second language. The common goal brings them together.Age and nationality was smoothed over.80-year-olds and 17-year-olds are sitting at the same desk. They understand each other perfectly from one look, help each other, learn together and meet together weekdays.Good professors teach here. The American, Daniel O'Connell, is one of them. He is a teacher in the Downtown campus.Having an interesting and easy personality with a sense of humor, he can hypnotize an audience with his talent. For the Japanese and the Chinese he is the best teacher because for 7 years he lived in Asian countries and knows Japanese and Chinese languages well. He is familiar with the life of Russians in the Far East and Sakhalin Island too. Multiple quakes jolt Russia's Kuril Islands and Bangladesh. On Thursday, September 9, four temblors jolted the Kuril Islands in Russia's Sakhalin Oblast region. The quakes were centered in the Pacific Ocean, 150 kilometers southeast of Kurilsk, and the largest measured 5.9 on the Richter scale, with the others measuring from 4.8 to 5.4. The next day, Bangladesh was shaken by two quakes measuring 4.0 and 4.8 on the Richter scale, which caused panic among residents as they struck eastern Comilla District. There were reports of cracks in several buildings in the town of Narayanganj. However, the tremors did not generate any threats of a tsunami nor cause any casualties. We thank Heaven for the safeguarding of those in the quake-shaken regions, as we pray that such distressing events are alleviated through humanity's adoption of kinder, eco-stabilizing lifestyles.
