White bellied Green pigeon(Treron sieboldii 33cm) . This pigeon drinks seawater and spa water every day to compensate and keep the electrolyte balance of its body(see White bellied Green pigeon 2, HDTV by JH1RNZ). During the Edo period (1603-1868), the Shogunate Government of Edo (now Tokyo) were implementing and dealing commerce only with Holland at Dejima harbor (a small island in Nagasaki Japan) . Philipp Franz von Siebold who was a German, employed as a medical doctor at the Office of the Dutch in Dejima. He took back two stuffed bodies of the Japanese Green Pigeon to the Western society and registered "Siebold's Pigeon" as the scientific name. Because the pronunciation of his Dutch was with a German accent, he was suspected to be a spy by Japanese interpreters. Finally, he took out a detailed map of Hokkaido including Sakhalin and some islands of the Chishima Islands chain. The Russian Empire obtained these maps and began the invasion policy of going south in the Far East. Now we have a major territory problem with Russia.
