As one of the V-PVO's principal interceptors, the Su-15 was involved in a number of incidents with foreign aircraft. One such attack was in 1978, when Korean Air Flight 902 was attacked over Murmansk by a PVO Su-15. Although the civilian aircraft survived the missile hit, two passengers were killed, and the damaged plane subsequently made a forced landing on a frozen lake. In 1981 a Baku, Azerbaijan-based Su-15 deliberately rammed an Iranian Canadair CL-44 after it strayed into Soviet airspace.[1] More notorious was the Korean Air Flight 007 incident in 1983, when a Korean Boeing 747 was shot down by a Su-15TM based on Sakhalin, killing all 246 passengers and 23 crew [1]. Although it was produced in large numbers (1290 of all types), the Su-15, like other highly sensitive Soviet aircraft, was never exported to the Warsaw Pact or any other country. Some Su-15 were deployed in Egypt in 1972 but were used with Soviet crews. In Russia, the Su-15 was abruptly retired in 1993 to comply with the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. Most were hastily scrapped in favour of more advanced interceptors, including the Su-27 'Flanker' and MiG-31 'Foxhound.' In Ukraine, the last Su-15s (at Kramatorsk and Belbek) were withdrawn from use in 1996.

We also reiterated the central role of the United Nations Organization in fighting that evil and new G8 steps in the field of counter-terrorism. We have managed to narrow the differences over the most complicated regional and international issues: we have discussed them seriously and in some detail. I mean the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and the nuclear programmes of Iran and the Korean Peoples Democratic Republic. On all these topics we have similar or identical positions on how to solve these crisis situations. In light of developments in the Middle East, we have confirmed our proposal to host, in Moscow, a conference in support of Middle East peace settlement. A few words about the meeting between the G8 leaders and those of five major developing countries. The discussion has shown that it is necessary to work consistently to bring the interaction with these states to a new level, to build on the foundation of the Heiligendamm process. Судя по всему разлив произошел еще в начале февраля 2009 года на территории нефтепромысла Эхаби. Оттуда нефть долгое время стекала по «ручью сточных вод» с нефтеловушки промысла в реку Гиляко-Абунан. В настоящее время нефть продолжает поступать в реку. По свидетельству местных жителей, в последние 2,5 месяца работники НГДУ время от времени предпринимали вялые попытки ликвидировать разлив, в том числе пытались сжигать нефть. На фотографиях, сделанных 20 апреля 2009 года, ясно видно, что нефть до сих пор покрывает сплошным слоем часть реки, скапливается в пониженных участках рельефа и в устье ручья, впадающего в р. Гиляко-Абунан.

This is a state-of-the-art enterprise that has world-standard technology. The new production line will produce 18000 microchips a year. This will give us with the supply of microchips we need, especially for our passport and visa services. The microchips will be used in passports and in a number of advanced technology sectors in industry. This new production line marks a significant advance for Russia in making microchips of this standard. This is important for the entire microelectronics sector and I will therefore also hold a meeting in Zelenograd on developing microelectronics in the civilian sector of the economy. All of the new production lines output will be going precisely to the civilian sector. VLADIMIR PUTIN: Will there be any benefit for the defence sector too?
