It is native to east Asia, from Sakhalin to the north, through Japan across through Korea, mainland China, and Taiwan, wintering in southeast Asia, including the Philippines and Borneo, sometimes observed in Bengal, eastern India. This full HD motion picture was taken with Canon 7D + IS 800mm F 5.6 on Oct. 1, 2010 in Hegura Island of Japan.

These are 4 clips of my work trip to the Odoptu oil process plant, situated on Sakhalin Island in eastern Russia (the island is directly to the north of Japan. Journey to two days each way to Odoptu, this 1st clip is of the journey from Yuzhno (main city on the island) to the site. This involves an overnight sleeper train up to Nogliki and a 5 hour road trip in a 4 x 4 vehicle. From the UK, I had to fly from Humberside airport to Schiphol (Amsterdam), onwards to Moscow Sheremetevyo, another flight from there to Yuzhno (supposed to be the longest internal flight in world), train to Nogliki finally followed by the car journey to site.
The 2nd part shows the site at Odoptu. Situated on the north east pacific coast it is quite remote. I spent 4 weeks there in June & July 2010, my commentary should explain most things about life there. The temperature can fall to -40 Celsius in the winter. Quite a hostile environment really.

Это Сахалин, вы видите протоку в озеро Тунайча (озеро примерно 35 на 10 километров) там речек много... только наши российские товарисчи закрыли главный вход в нее, аргументируя якобы рыборазводом! в итоге в этом году нереста не будет! как я думаю и в последующие... Причем насколько я понимаю, власти в курсе, так как катер местного рыбнадзора! вот так у нас гробят природные ресурсы! на раз хапнули а далее...
